The Supreme Court (SC) held that the right to freedom of expression does not include the right to abuse or insult others. The apex court noted that Pakistan was among the first countries to have signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adding that its Article 19 also does not permit abusing others.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) referred journalist Arshad Sharif’s murder case back to the three-member bench constituted under the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act, 2023 to re-fix it before a five-member bench.
